Document Controller


For their head office in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire, our client need a Document Controller to join their team immediately. 
 
This will be to work for them directly on a permanent contract. 
 
The role

  • The purpose of the Document Controller is to work as part of the Design Team and cover elements of works on our clients pre-construction and live projects in the UK and throughout EMEA. 
  • The individual will play a crucial role in the collation of technical information which will then be formed into edited documents for submission to clients along with the management and issue of all drawings, calculations, and technical information on the clients document control portal and manage and update the design deliverable schedule. 
  • The role would suit a very IT literate person who can work with various document control packages and can prepare and issue documents for review by the client and their design team. 
  • In time our client expect the individual to grow and develop their career and move onto carrying out design and detailing duties. 
Responsibilities
  • Prepare technical submittals extracted from the specification and ‘information for construction’ drawings and details. 
  • Submit information in line with the dates as agreed on the design deliverable schedule. 
  • Attend progress meetings and workshops and forums and communicate as required to support other members of the respective project team. 
Scope
  • Set up, read and understand and attend training course on the various document control systems in place on our projects. 
  • Use the various document control systems to issue design information for review and approval. 
  • Help manage the information distribution internally to the relevant departments. 
  • Maintain accurate records of when relevant documents have been issued to the client for approval and review and update the revision and status of the return of the documents. 
  • Process a large number of documents daily, including a thorough QA check, printing and review/distribution and electronic forwarding to create an accurate audit trail. 
  • Establish and maintain a Request for Information system providing reports to the Project Team as necessary. 
  • Collate and prepare technical submittals that are aligned to the specification and construction drawings for issue to the client.
